You are cordially invited to participate in
Webmedia 2005, the 11th Brazilian Symposium on Webmedia
Conference, which will be held in December 5-7, 2005, in
Poços de Caldas, Brazil.
Supported by the Brazilian Computer Society
(SBC), Webmedia has been, since 1995, the most important
Brazilian forum for presentations, tutorials and
discussions on recent advances in technology related to
Multimedia and the Web. The published results have been
qualified as QUALIS "B".
The WebMedia 2005 Conference will have activities
including:
Full and Short
paper presentations,
Workshop of on
going thesis and dissertations,
Tutorials
Short Courses
Posters
Session
Tools and
Demos workshop
Undergraduate
research workshop
Digital TV

ENGLISH AND
PORTUGUESE-SPANISH TRACK
WebMedia 2005 will have two complementary tracks:
English, and Portuguese or Spanish.
Papers submitted to either track should properly
place the work within the field, cite related work, and
clearly indicate the innovative aspects of the work and
its contribution to the field. A paper that is under
review for or has already been published or accepted for
publication in a journal or another conference is
unacceptable. In all cases, papers will be peer-reviewed
by at least 3 reviewers from an International Program
Committee.
Accepted papers for the English Track will appear
in the conference proceedings which will be published by
IEEE Press.
Accepted papers for the Portuguese-Spanish track
will be published in the conference proceedings
sponsored by SBC and made available at the SBC Web site
(http://www.sbc.org.br) after the conference. The same
proceedings will hold the papers for the PhD and MSc
Consortium and Demos.
Webmedia 2005 seeks original papers describing
research in all areas related to the Web. Topics in both
fields, Web and Multimedia, include but are not limited

FULL
PAPERS (up to 8 pages)
Full
papers should properly place the work within the field,
cite related work, and clearly indicate the innovative
aspects of the work and its contribution to the
field.
SHORT PAPERS (up to 3
pages)
Short papers, presented in the regular
paper sessions, provide a unique forum for late-breaking
research.
POSTERS and DEMOS (up
to 2 pages)
The Poster sessions provide an
opportunity for researchers and practitioners to present
their recent research, and to obtain feedback from their
peers in an informal setting.
Demos are an
important venue where both academic and industrial
participants can present their latest products or
prototypes.
Posters and Demos, which will be
also peer-reviewed by the Conference Committee, give
conference attendees a way to learn about innovative
works in progress in a timely and informal manner. Poster Format
Short Courses (up to 2
pages)
Short courses, presented
in Portuguese, should target undergraduate AND/OR
GRADUATE students and cover topics of interest related
to the Web or to Multimedia in general. Authors of
selected courses are expected to produce a 40-page text
that will be published in a volume
dedicated to short
courses.
Proposals of 8-hour courses should
include:(i) an abstract describing the course, including
a paragraph detailing why the course would be of
interest to undergraduate/GRADUATE students, (ii) a
description of the target audience, including
prerequisite knowledge, (iii) a high-level table of
contents with text explaining what will be covered in
each topic, (iv) authors` biographies, (vi) indication
of which author will present the course, (v) A/V
equipment requirements. One presenter for each course
will have the registration fee waived and will receive
accommodation and transport.
UNDERGRADUATE
RESEARCH WORKSHOP (up to
3pages)
Students may submit their
ongoing work to be evaluated for presentation on the
Undergraduate Research. We expect this to be an
opportunity for students to have important feedback with
respect to their proposals and partial
results.
DIGITAL-TV
Workshop (up to 4 pages)
Webmedia
will also host the Brazilian Workshop on TV-DIGITAL,
where researches will have a unique opportunity to
report and discuss work, associated with this area, that
is being carried out by the community. The papers from
this workshop will also be peer reviewed and published
in
the proceedings by SBC.
PhD and MSc
CONSORTIUM (up to 4
pages)
Students may submit their
ongoing work to be evaluated for presentation on the PhD
and MSc Consortium. We expect this to be an opportunity
for students to have important feedback with respect to
their proposals and partial results.
SUBMISSION
Papers must be submitted electronically
in PDF, and must be formatted using the styles that will
be posted in the conference Web site.
Submissions at the JEMS
System
In all cases, authors must also
include a short 30-word statement with their submission
which emphasizes the contribution of their paper, that
will be seen by reviewers. For accepted papers, the
final statement will appear in the Table of Contents of
the conference proceedings and will be edited for
clarity and accuracy by the program committee. In all
cases, over-length or incorrectly formatted submissions
may be rejected without reviews. Final copies of
accepted papers will be required in both PDF.
Submissions must be made according instructions at
WebMedia2005 site. Inquiries can be sent by e-mail to webmedia2005@pucpcaldas.br
